Corning High School was the overall team winner at the 32nd annual Burney Rotary Invitational wrestling tournament held Friday and Saturday at Burney High School.
Scoring 216.5 points, the Cardinals edged out the Modoc Braves, who took second with 214.5 points. Pleasant Valley was third with 140 points among the 20 teams competing.
Bo Stier or Burney captured first in the 103-weight class and teammate Rocky Leonard was second in the 140-pound division.
Modoc’s impressive finish was accomplished with the help of Josh Wood in the 189-pound weight class. Having recently celebrated his 14th birthday, Josh captured the finals championship and was voted Outstanding Heavyweight for the tournament.
