Rotary 32nd annual BRI
The Rotary Club of Burney held its annual Burney Rotary Invitational wrestling tournament Jan. 13 and 14, 2006 at the Burney High School gym. Corning High School was the overall team winner at the 32nd tournament. Scoring 216.5 points, the Cardinals edged out the Modoc Braves, who took second with 214.5 points. Pleasant Valley was third with 140 points among the 20 teams competing. Team standings for the BRI are listed. 1st - Corning 216.50, 2nd - Modoc 241.50, 3rd - Pleasant Valley 140, 4th - Upper Lake 119, 5th - Bonanza 93, 6th - Mount Shasta 89.50, 7th - Burney 83, 8th - Portola 75, 9th - Etna 70, 10th - Trinity 60, 11th - Central Valley 59.50, 12th - Quincy 59, 13th - Chester 52, 14th - Fall River 51.50, 15th - Big Valley 28, 16th - Hamilton City 26, 17th - Bishop Quinn 11, 18th - Tulelake 8, 19th (tie) - Middletown 0, 19th (tie) - Weed 0. Business is picking up
The Rotary Club of Burney twice a year volunteers to pick up litter along a 2-mile stretch of Highway 89 near McArthur Burney Falls Memorial State Park. Third Annual Rotary Club of Burney Golf Tournament
The third annual Rotary Club of Burney Fly Fishing and Golf Tournament was held Saturday, May 14, 2005 at the Fall River Valley Golf & Country Club in Fall River Mills. This is part of the club's $50,000 over 5 Years Fundraiser. This year, a $12,000 Town Clock will be placed at Christmas Tree Lane in Burney. Prizes for the tournament included fly fishing equipment, guided fishing trips, accomodations and meals for fly fishing/golfing trips, rounds of golf, golf clubs, pull carts, golf bags and more.
